I’m standing barefoot in my backyard,
contemplating all that I’ve done.
I take deep breaths and try to stay still,
as little ants bite away at my toes.
Seconds, minutes, hours blend together,
until I can take no more.
An urge that cannot be refrained,
a fire burning through my veins.
Of everything I try to make sense,
the search never seems to end
And the more I dig, with dirt under my nails
The deeper I sink into another unfortunate tale
It takes just a second, a distraction, just a little brain glitch
To fall right back to the bottom, as I scratch away the itch.
